Junya Nitta ☆ Word Programmer
Profile:
Born in Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture, Junya Nitta graduated from Osaka University with a degree in environmental engineering. He then studied for a Masters in civil and environmental engineering (M.Eng.) at the University of California, Berkeley. Before returning to Japan he spent a year working for an IT corporation in California, preparing book estimates, dispatching goods and writing an internal system manual.
Upon returning to Japan in 2000, he spent five years working as an engineer at a company involved in designing and managing wastewater treatment plants, before deciding to change careers and become a translator. He spent six years working at a patent firm in Nagoya during which time he encountered and became captivated by macros and programming.
In April 2011 Junya started working as a freelance programmer and translator and in October 2011 he set up his own company NIT Inc. in Tokyo.
He currently spends his time translating patents, giving Word and macro related seminars, and writing macros, many of which he publishes on his blog, "Minna no Word Macro” (Macros for Everyone). In addition to seminars offered by NIT Inc., to-date he has also collaborated with schools such as Sunflare Academy, ILC Osaka, and Business IT Academy, and presented seminars at events organized by the Japan Association of Translators and the Japan Translation Federation.
In 2012 he wrote a series of articles on macros for ALC’s “Honyaku Tsuyaku no Tobira” and he has also been interviewed for and written articles that have been published in other translation industry journals.
His software includes "Right-Click to Google!" for advanced web searching from Word and "Para Para", a program designed for translators who type over the source text.

Since October 2011 Junya has been awarded the title “Microsoft MVP for Word” (MVP: Most Valuable Professional), an annual accolade awarded to only 20 individuals worldwide.
Junya enjoys programming from a translator's perspective, with a particular focus on macros for patent translators. He also enjoys playing the guitar and listening to music.
